Job description

The Group Finance Manager is a pivotal role within the organization, responsible for overseeing the entire finance function across the group. This role encompasses internal and external reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management. The Group Finance Manager will ensure financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and effective financial planning and analysis to support strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate is a Chartered Accountant with a robust background in finance management and a proven track record of leadership in a similar capacity.

Key Responsibilities :

Oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the group, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure effective financial management and operational efficiency.

Internal Reporting :

Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to the executive team and board of directors.

  • Conduct detailed financial analysis to provide insights into business performance and inform strategic decisions.
  • Coordinate and manage the internal audit process, ensuring adherence to internal controls and identifying areas for improvement.

External Reporting :

Ensure accurate and timely preparation and submission of statutory financial statements and regulatory filings.

  • Liaise with external auditors to facilitate the annual audit process and address any audit findings or recommendations.
  • Stay updated on changes in financial regulations and accounting standards, ensuring compliance across the group.

Budgeting and Forecasting :

Lead the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads to develop realistic and strategic budgets.

  • Prepare and update financial forecasts, providing scenario analysis and risk assessments.
  • Monitor and report on budget variances, identifying areas of concern and recommending corrective actions.

Cash Flow Management :

Oversee cash flow planning and management to ensure sufficient liquidity for operational needs and strategic initiatives.

  • Optimize the group’s working capital through effective management of receivables, payables, and inventory.
  • Develop strategies for capital allocation, financing, and investment to support growth and sustainability.

Team Leadership and Development :

Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.

  • Set performance goals, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance appraisals for finance staff.
  • Promote collaboration and effective communication within the finance team and with other departments.

Qualifications :

  • Education : CA (SA) with 2-5 years experience.
  • Certification : Chartered Accountant (CA) designation is mandatory.
  • Experience : Minimum of 2-5 years of progressive finance experience including at least 3-5 years in a management or leadership role.
  • Skills :

Strong technical accounting knowledge and familiarity with IFRS / GAAP.

  • Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in financial management software and advanced Excel skills.
