Financial Consolidation and Reporting
Lead the group’s monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidation processes, ensuring the accurate aggregation of financial statements from multiple subsidiaries across different sectors.
Prepare and review consolidated financial statements in compliance with IFRS and other applicable accounting frameworks.
Manage inter-company eliminations and adjustments, ensuring they align with the group’s overall financial policies and regulations.
Coordinate with external auditors and provide the necessary information for annual audits.
Group Financial Analysis and Reporting
Oversee the preparation and presentation of detailed financial reports to the executive management team, including budget variance analysis and KPI tracking.
Conduct financial forecasting, budgeting, and scenario analysis across the group's sectors, providing insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
Collaborate with business unit leaders to ensure that financial information is accurately captured and reported.
Compliance and Governance
Ensure all accounting practices adhere to regulatory standards, company policies, and legal requirements.
Stay updated with changes in financial regulations and accounting standards (IFRS, tax regulations, etc.) and implement necessary changes within the group.
Assist in preparing tax filings and manage group tax compliance.
Team Leadership & Coordination
Lead and mentor a team of accountants and financial analysts within the group, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high performance.
Work closely with finance teams across various subsidiaries and investment areas to ensure proper financial management and integration.
Systems and Process Improvement
Continuously identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and efficiency gains in consolidation and reporting activities.
Stakeholder Engagement
Provide insightful financial analysis and reporting to the Board of Directors and other key stakeholders.
Collaborate with senior management to inform strategic decision-making based on financial performance and market trends.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Essential).
Professional qualification (CA(SA), CIMA, ACCA or equivalent) (Essential).
Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant financial experience, including at least 3 years in a group reporting or consolidation role.
Extensive experience with IFRS, financial consolidation, and reporting in a multi-sector environment (ideally across investment portfolios, including wildlife & farming, hospitality, real estate, and consumer industries).
Experience working in a privately-owned group structure and understanding of corporate governance within such an environment.
Strong understanding of South African tax law and compliance.
Multicurrency and international experience (Essential).
