The Estates & Facilities Grounds & Gardens Department at Broadmoor Hospital has a vacancy for a Full Time, Grounds & Gardens Assistant to support & undertake general gardening duties within the hospital grounds and wider estate.

You should have good general plant knowledge and a willingness to develop your skills further as part of a team maintaining a wide range of environments, including carefully managed patient gardens, formal & informal planting, lawns, and hard surface areas within the hospital.

Open grassland, woodland, ecologically sensitive, and public access areas also form part of the wider estate grounds.

Main duties of the job

As part of the Grounds & Gardens team, you will be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all Trust land within the -acre hospital estate. You will ensure that all work is carried out to the standards required within the hospital maintenance plan and ensure the safety of all service users, staff, visitors, and the wider public.

You will need to exhibit a professional attitude to the role with the ability to communicate well with others and demonstrate a team-focused approach to working with all Trust staff as well as members of the immediate team.

You should possess a full clean driving licence and a willingness to develop skills to operate a wide range of ground care plant & equipment. A good understanding of Health & Safety with the ability to follow instructions to ensure that all Safe Systems of Work are adhered to is essential.

Qualifications

• Full Driving Licence

Experience

• At least 2 years' experience working in a gardening environment
• Experience in working in the NHS
• Able to work with minimum supervision
• Able to communicate effectively
• Good communicational skills
• Basic IT skills (Word)
• Health & Safety knowledge

Skills

• Active & motivated with a good attendance record

• Good level of fitness

£28,000 a year Per Annum Inclusive of Allowances.
