Graphic Designer position available in Stellenbosch.
A renowned aerospace and space technology engineering company is looking for a Graphic Designer to join their team on a full-time permanent basis in Stellenbosch.
Position Overview:
Our client is a growing technology company with an exciting story to tell, ambitious plans for the future, and plenty of room to evolve its brand identity. Until now, the team has focused on developing exceptional technology, and they are now looking for a talented Design Specialist to help create and establish an equally exceptional visual identity.
Working closely with the Head of Marketing and Brand Management, the successful candidate will take ownership of bringing the client’s brand vision to life across a wide range of applications, including technical datasheets, corporate presentations, exhibition stands, packaging, branded merchandise, corporate gifting and advertising.
This is a hands-on design role that combines creative thinking with technical expertise and a strong sense of visual consistency. The successful candidate will play an important role in refining and developing the client’s visual identity, conceptualising creative solutions, establishing consistent design systems, and ensuring a cohesive brand experience across all platforms and materials.
Our client is particularly interested in someone with a passion for traditional graphic design, including print design, typography, layout, desktop publishing and corporate identity. An understanding of production processes, attention to detail and the ability to translate creative concepts into technically accurate, production-ready designs are essential.
Experience in digital design would be an added advantage. The role offers exposure to a diverse range of creative projects and applications, with access to external specialists when projects require expertise beyond the candidate’s core strengths.
Position Responsibilities:
- Bringing Our Brand Into Orbit:
- Help refine, strengthen and establish visual identity.
- Roll out our corporate identity consistently across marketing, sales, product and corporate communications.
- Develop and maintain brand guidelines, reusable design assets and templates.
- Make sure every brand touchpoint feels considered, cohesive and professionally executed.
- Making Print Beautiful Again
- Lead the design of brochures, product guides, technical datasheets, company profiles, reports and corporate collateral.
- Apply excellent typography, information hierarchy, grid systems and layout principles to complex technical content.
- Prepare production-ready artwork and manage prepress, print specifications and supplier handovers.
- Develop professional Microsoft Word and PowerPoint corporate templates that are both beautifully designed and genuinely practical to use.
- Taking the Brand Into the Real World
- Design exhibition stands, trade show branding, large-format graphics and event collateral.
- Create exciting designs for branded merchandise, packaging, promotional materials and other physical brand applications.
- Develop advertising layouts and extend the brand into digital content templates, social media graphics and web assets.
- Assist Marketing Operations to liaise with printers, fabricators and suppliers to ensure the final result lives up to the design.
- Leading the Creative Process
- Take projects from initial idea to final artwork, balancing creative ambition with deadlines, budgets and production realities.
- Work directly with marketing, brand management and engineering teams to turn briefs — sometimes very technical ones — into compelling visual communication.
- Think on your feet, solve problems and find smarter ways to execute creative work.
Minimum Requirements:
- National Diploma or BA in Art or Design with minimum 5 years’ experience. Alternatively 10+ years’ experience with physical portfolio, if self-taught
- Corporate document design: experience creating Microsoft Word and PowerPoint templates.
- Experience in expo booth design, custom merch design and print production ready design.
- Significant Experience in layout, DTP design and large format printing.
- South African citizenship or a valid work permit.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in digital design, social media content, web graphics, animation or multimedia is an advantage, but this is first and foremost a print, layout and brand design role.
- Previous experience in an advertising agency, creative studio or multidisciplinary design environment is appreciated. We’re particularly interested in designers who have worked across different brands and can adapt their creative approach to suit the brief, the audience and the business and execute in time and on brand.
What Technical Skills You Will Bring To The Mission:
- Proficiency in full Adobe Creative Cloud, with excellent Skills in InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Proficiency in full MS Office Suite (i.e. MS Word, Powerpoint and Excel).
- Production know-how: print specifications, large-format graphics, exhibition branding, packaging and supplier requirements.
- Skilled in using time tracking and project management tools like ClickUp and Slack.
- Ability to roll-out collateral additions across channels, touch points and applications.
- Translation of technically complex data into simplified design experiences.
- Branding expertise: the ability to apply and evolve a corporate identity across multiple formats and applications.
