Mission/Core purpose of the Job

This role offers an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional to gain hands-on experience in financial reporting, consolidation, and technical accounting at Bayobab.

The successful candidate will support the Finance team in all aspects of intercompany within GC, month end activities for Fibre Cos, preparing and reviewing financial statements, ensuring compliance with IFRS and Bayobab Group reporting standards, and assisting in consolidation across subsidiaries. This role is ideal for someone who is analytical, detail-oriented, and eager to grow their career in finance within a dynamic pan-African environment.

The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding, deadline driven work environment is critical to success in this role. The successful candidate will have a strong desire in adding value to GC finance operations.

Key Performance Areas
Key Deliverables
  • End-2-End intercompany processes & relationship management with (not limited to) OpCos, Centres of Excellence (CoE) and the GC finance teams.
  • Manage month end intercompany processes by ensuring adherence to the internal month-end calendars, group forecast/budget instructions and the group intercompany policy (IC policy).
  • Distribute intercompany confirmations in line with the IC policy.
  • Prepare intercompany reconciliations between operating entities.
  • Load intercompany transactions into the Hyperion Intercompany Tool and ARC (IC Tool), match and post in line with the IC policy.
  • Provide guidance and insights on the intercompany transactions to the GC finance teams.
  • Follow up and respond to intercompany related queries from group and internal/external audit.
  • Provide intercompany cashflow details for input into GC’s cashflow within prescribed deadlines.
  • Provide reports to support GC’s disclosure reporting.
  • Support month-end closing activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and system updates for the Fibre Companies.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting and group submissions.
  • Help consolidate financial results across Bayobab and its subsidiaries.
  • Maintain compliance with IFRS and internal accounting policies.
  • Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Liaise with Group Finance, Tax, and Treasury teams to resolve reporting queries.
  • Assist in preparing cash flow statements and other management reports for the Fibre Companies.
  • Support the continuous improvement of accounting and reporting processes.
  • Keep up to date with changes in accounting standards and participate in finance team learning initiatives.

Job Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Commerce (Honours advantageous).
  • Studying towards or recently completed CA(SA), ACCA, or equivalent qualification

Experience:

  • 0–2 years’ experience in a finance or accounting environment (including internships or articles).
  • Basic knowledge of IFRS and general accounting principles
  • Exposure to financial systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, or similar) will be an advantage.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and analytical skills.
