Job Description

Why This Role is Critical to Experian South Africa:

At Experian South Africa, compliance is not just a regulatory requirement—it is a strategic enabler. As we expand our footprint and innovate across Africa, we must ensure that our operations are underpinned by robust compliance frameworks. This role will is pivot to supporting the Compliance and Data Protection functions in ensuring Experian Africa meets its legal and regulatory compliance obligations. The graduate will support the achievement of the compliance teams goals, while gaining hands-on experience in compliance monitoring, data protection practices, regulatory reporting, and risk management. The key purpose of the role is to contribute to the development and implementation of compliance frameworks and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in monitoring compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
  • Support the Data Protection Officer in managing data subject access requests, privacy impact assessments, and data breach responses.
  • Conduct research on regulatory developments and assist in preparing compliance reports and presentations.
  • Collaborate with the Compliance team to provide just-in-time advisory support to business units.
  • Help maintain compliance registers, risk logs, and documentation.
  • Aid in developing and participate delivering compliance training and awareness initiatives.
  • Assist in compliance monitoring reviews.
  • Participate in the review, enhancement and/or design of compliance controls.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support compliance-related projects.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects by providing fresh perspectives and supporting process enhancements
  • Provide administrative support to the Compliance and Data Protection teams as needed.
  • Support the use and maintenance of the Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) platforms such as Archer and One Trust.
  • Other ad hoc tasks as assigned by the Head of Compliance
Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in law, Compliance, Risk Management, Business, or a related field.

• Strong interest in compliance, data protection, and regulatory affairs.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

• Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
