Job description

Somerset College is a leading independent, co-educational day and boarding school offering schooling from Grade 000 to Matric-IEB and Cambridge AS and A-levels. Founded in 1997, Somerset College is a welcoming, stimulating centre of learning situated in the beautiful Cape Winelands.

The Preparatory School seeks to employ an energetic, creative and experienced Grade 3 Class Teacher who is passionate about developing young people.

GRADE 3 CLASS TEACHER

Commencement Date: 1 January 2026

The successful candidate must:

  • have the suitable academic and professional qualifications;
  • have knowledge and 8 -10 years teaching experience in the Cambridge Primary Curriculum as this will be an added advantage;
  • have good interpersonal skills and proven ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team;
  • implement and maintain a diverse and inclusive learning environment and culture that embraces future-focused education;
  • have excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • enrich teaching and learning by including the use of technology and additional learning resources as well as engaging and stimulating teaching practices;
  • be a strong administrator and possess excellent organisational skills;
  • be able to initiate and sustain initiatives;
  • have a proven track record of managing professional relationships with maturity;
  • understand the Christian ethos and values of the school;
  • have a warm and nurturing disposition;
  • be willing to be engaged in the afternoon Co-Curricular Programme;
