Job Description

Purpose: The Teacher plans and implements an instructional program that fosters learning and growth, creates a supportive learning environment, and guides students toward reaching their potential.

Reports to: Principal or Assistant Principal

The Teacher works under general supervision, adhering to policies, procedures, regulations, and laws. The role involves frequent interaction with students, parents, and staff, requiring professionalism, good judgment, and a calm demeanor.

Essential Job Functions
  • Conduct oneself in the best interest of students, supporting the District's mission and ethical standards.
  • Plan meaningful, differentiated lessons based on grade-level standards.
  • Communicate respectfully and professionally with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Develop lessons linked to standards and previous/future lessons to meet learning targets.
  • Assign relevant performance tasks and provide measurable learning targets.
  • Use varied instructional strategies, including culturally responsive approaches, to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Assess student learning using multiple tools, providing timely feedback.
  • Modify instruction based on assessment data, including for students with disabilities.
  • Create a conducive physical classroom environment supporting learning and independence.
  • Establish routines that promote student responsibility and maximize learning time.
  • Build an inclusive classroom culture that encourages respect, risk-taking, and collaboration.
  • Follow district policies, exercise professional judgment, and maintain effective relationships.
Qualifications
  • Current TSPC Licensure with endorsement in the assigned subject area.
  • Fluency in English for teachers of English Learners, as per district assessment.
Working Conditions

The teacher primarily works indoors but may supervise students outdoors in various weather conditions. The role requires standing, walking, speaking, and hearing, often in loud environments. The environment may include exposure to temperatures, dirt, and communicable diseases. The position involves high interaction with diverse students and families, requiring emotional resilience.

Work Year
