Global Investment Operations Analyst – Regulatory Reporting - Cape Town

Job Summary

Our client, an independent, active global asset manager, is seeking an Investment Operations Analyst – Regulatory Reporting. The primary responsibility of the Regulatory Reporting team is to monitor clients’ trade and transaction reporting obligations, focusing on the European Markets Infrastructure Regulation (EMIR) and Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID).

This role involves close collaboration with various stakeholders across the organization, including the compliance team, legal department, and other operational units.

Responsibilities
  1. Review regulatory reporting submissions, handle exceptions, and improve reporting quality.
  2. Establish and maintain relationships with trading counterparties to resolve reporting discrepancies.
  3. Develop in-depth knowledge of relevant regulations.
  4. Support the Regulatory Reporting Manager and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and external parties such as brokers and clients.
  5. Manage key deliverables and respond promptly to business queries/issues.
  6. Perform reconciliations, interpret data, identify patterns, and address risks.
Requirements
  1. Relevant tertiary Degree (e.g., BBusSci in Finance, Statistics, Data Analysis) with 3+ years of industry experience in monitoring trade and transaction reporting obligations, or a newly qualified CA(SA) with Asset Management auditing experience.
  2. Experience analyzing and interpreting large data sets in Excel; advanced Excel skills are essential.
  3. Technical knowledge of Charles River and ETD/OTC derivatives is desirable.
