Job summary

Performability Recruitment (Pty) Ltd is seeking a GL & Treasury Accountant to ensure accurate financial records, manage treasury operations, and uphold internal controls. You will lead a small team, drive process improvements, and contribute to financial health.

The role requires a strong analyst with communication and problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset. Key duties include fixed asset management, treasury operations, and full general ledger oversight.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role focusing on GL accounting and treasury management.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in accounting software including Sage X3, Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Commitment to ethical conduct.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the entire general ledger process from recording to reporting.
• Review and analyse transactions for proper approval and policy adherence.
• Process journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting accurately and timely.
• Manage petty cash, staff advances, and credit card reconciliations.
• Assist with salary, accrual, interest, and other journal entries.
• Investigate discrepancies and escalate as needed.
• Prepare monthly recharge schedules and VAT reports.
• Support month-end close and regulatory submissions.
• Drive process improvements and automation within the team.
