Requirements :

  • Grade 12 plus a Bachelor’s degree (NQF Level 7) in GISc or relevant qualification as recognized by SAQA. Minimum of 3 years’ experience post qualification (experience in geographical information support services). Compulsory registration with South African Geomatics Council (SAGC) (previously known as PLATO) as a GISc Technologist. A valid driver’s license. COMPETENCES: Computer Literacy, Good written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal relations, people management. GISc implementation and standards, GIS operational communication, knowledge and application consulting. Strategic management and direction. Knowledge of Government Immovable Asset Management Act of 2007, Occupational Health and Safety Act of 1993 and Regulations, National Environmental Management Act of 1998, relevant Provincial Land and Administration Legislation. National Archives and Records Service Act of 1996. GP IDMS Framework.

Duties :

  • Perform technical spatial activities for infrastructure planning through the utilization of information systems, Collect credible data from different sources. Capture data and update on a regular basis on required formats. Analyze data according to application requirements. Implement quality assurance. Contribute to the design of an appropriate spatial database for infrastructure planning in line with existing systems. Document functional and user requirements. Identify gap analysis. Verify spatial data. Update information. Capture metadata records. Produce fully functional maps customized to requirements of users. Compile reports. Spatial services. Develop maps. Collect and update all changes in terms of the comprehensive physical resources framework of the department. Confirm land and building locations. Extract data and prepare reports.
