• Knowledge of SA environmental permits and safety standards

About the Role

A leading geothermal energy development company is looking for a seasoned Project Manager to spearhead ambitious new ventures in George, Western Cape . This role is pivotal in managing the entire lifecycle of geothermal power projects, from initial exploration and resource assessment through to construction, commissioning, and operational handover. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards. You will play a critical part in expanding the company's footprint in the clean energy space within the beautiful province of the Western Cape . Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all phases of geothermal energy projects, ensuring successful execution.
• Develop detailed project plans, including scope, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
• Manage project risks, identify potential issues, and implement mitigation strategies.
• Coordinate with engineering teams, geologists, environmental consultants, and construction contractors.
• Ensure strict adherence to all safety regulations, environmental permits, and quality control procedures.
• Act as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, including investors, government agencies, and local communities.
• Monitor project progress and provide regular status reports to senior management.
• Manage contract negotiations and vendor relationships.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives within project management processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, or Geotechnical preferred), Project Management, or a related field.
• Master's degree is a plus.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in project management, with a significant portion dedicated to large-scale energy or infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated experience in geothermal energy development is a strong advantage.
• Proven ability to manage complex budgets, schedules, and cross-functional teams.
• In-depth knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2).
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Familiarity with environmental impact assessments and permitting processes in South Africa.
• Strong understanding of geological and engineering principles relevant to geothermal resource development.
• Must be willing to undertake site visits across various locations in the Western Cape and potentially beyond.
