Job summary

Professional Resources Partners Pty Ltd is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer located in Hotazel, Northern Cape. The successful applicant will provide expert geotechnical support to optimize the safe operation of open-pit mining activities. This role includes responsibilities for geotechnical data collection, numerical modelling, safety compliance, and training.

Candidates should have a relevant BSc/BEng/BTech degree, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in open-pit mining, and must hold a COM Certificate in Rock Mechanics.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in open-pit mining, including at least 4 years as a Rock Engineer.
• Legal appointment holder under MHSA 14.1(8).
• Valid Code 08 driver’s license and certificate of fitness to work in a mining environment.

Responsibilities

• Collect and report geotechnical data including groundwater and slope performance.
• Conduct numerical modelling of potential failure modes using advanced software.
• Train mine personnel in strata control principles and hazard identification.

Skills

Proficient in numerical modelling with Gem4D and Rocscience software

Strong analytical skills and reporting capabilities

Experienced in slope monitoring system implementation

Competent in Microsoft Office Suite and Mine Planning Software

Effective communication skills

Education

BSc/BEng/BTech in Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or Geology
