Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or a closely related field.
• Pr Eng registration with ECSA preferred.
• 7+ years of relevant geotechnical experience, coastal projects advantageous.
• Strong foundation design and soil mechanics skills; numerical modeling experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed geotechnical investigations including site characterization, soil sampling, and lab testing interpretation for coastal and inland projects.
• Perform foundation design and analysis for buildings, bridges, and marine installations considering challenging soil conditions.
• Prepare geotechnical reports with recommendations for site prep, earthworks and retaining structures.
• Develop and implement ground improvement strategies for specific site challenges.
• Oversee field testing and monitoring to ensure data accuracy and project compliance.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers and clients to deliver effective geotechnical solutions.
• Ensure designs adhere to South African codes and standards; conduct risk assessments for slopes and liquefaction.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or a closely related field.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with ECSA is preferred.

• Proven expertise in foundation design, soil mechanics, and numerical modeling (e.g., Plaxis, GeoStudio).
• Experience with various site investigation techniques and laboratory testing.
• Familiarity with South African geotechnical design codes and standards.
• Excellent report writing and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information clearly.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, often in demanding site conditions within **Cape Town**.
