Placements24 is seeking a meticulous Geological Technician to support resource evaluation in Upington, Northern Cape. You will assist geologists with field sampling, basic data management, and preliminary analyses to underpin exploration projects.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or equivalent qualification in Geology, Earth Sciences, or related field.
• 2–3 years of experience as Geological Technician or Assistant Geologist.
• Basic understanding of geological principles and rock identification.
• Experience with fieldwork in remote or challenging environments.
• Proficiency in basic data recording and entry.

Responsibilities

• Assist geologists in collecting geological samples (rock chips, soil samples, drill core).
• Perform basic sample preparation: logging, crushing, splitting, labeling.
• Maintain detailed field notes and record sample data in databases or ledgers.
• Conduct preliminary field tests and measurements as directed by geologists.
• Operate and maintain basic geological and sampling equipment.
• Ensure adherence to field safety protocols and quality control procedures.
