Job summary

Tiger Brands in Durban, South Africa, is seeking a diligent palletizing operator to safely stack finished rice bags onto pallets in line with packing patterns. You will ensure correct bag alignment, maintain pallet stability, and prepare pallets for warehousing and dispatch.

Responsibilities include quality checks on bags, reporting defects, assisting with pallet wrapping and labelling, keeping the area clean to food-safety standards, and following health and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 is required.
• Experience in packing/palletizing is advantageous.

To palletize finished rice products safely and efficiently by stacking packed rice bags onto pallets according to prescribed stacking patterns, ensuring product quality, correct quantities and readiness for warehousing and dispatch.

• Palletizing operations
• Stack packed rice bags onto pallets according to the required stacking pattern.
• Ensure bags are properly aligned, stable and securely stacked.
• Maintain the correct pallet configuration and stacking height.
• Ensure pallets are suitable for safe transportation and storage.
• Product quality
• Inspect rice bags for tears, leaks, damaged packaging or incorrect labelling.
• Report defective products to the supervisor and follow the applicable procedures.
• Ensure the correct product type and bag size are palletized.
• Production support
• Maintain a consistent flow of finished rice bags from the packing line.
• Assist with pallet wrapping, labelling and securing finished pallets where required.
• Meet daily production targets and minimise product damage and waste.
• Food safety and housekeeping
• Maintain cleanliness in the palletizing area in accordance with food safety standards.
• Remove spilled rice and packaging waste promptly and safely.
• Follow hygiene, pest-control and contamination-prevention procedures.
• Health and safety
• Follow all occupational health and safety requirements.
• Use the correct manual-handling techniques and required PPE.
• Report unsafe conditions, damaged pallets and equipment defects.
• Never operate forklifts or other restricted machinery without the required authorisation and training.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12
• Previous experience in a packing or palletizing environment would be advantageous.
