A leading international logistics and cargo handling company is seeking a skilled and experienced General Supervisor to oversee terminal operations in Sohar, Oman. This is a shift-based, hands-on leadership role suited for someone with strong experience in breakbulk, RoRo, and project cargo, who can manage large teams and ensure seamless operations across land and vessel interfaces.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervise all operational activities during the shift, including vessel loading/unloading and yard movements.
- Allocate berthing positions in collaboration with yard planners and oversee safe docking procedures.
- Direct and coordinate a team of up to 100 workers, including shift supervisors, foremen, operators, and dockers.
- Monitor and optimize the use of equipment and labor to ensure timely and safe execution of cargo handling.
- Manage delivery operations and warehouse coordination.
- Conduct regular checks on work quality, safety, and compliance with standard operating procedures.
- Liaise with key stakeholders such as shipping agents, consignees, surveyors, port authorities, and service providers.
- Identify bottlenecks and propose improvements as part of a lean and continuous improvement mindset.
- Perform limited administrative tasks including reviewing packing lists, stowage plans, and documentation control.
Experience and Qualifications
- Minimum of 6 years’ experience in maritime, port, or terminal operations.
- Proven supervisory or team leadership experience in high-volume operational settings.
- Solid exposure to breakbulk, RoRo (roll-on/roll-off), and project cargo environments.
- Ability to work outdoors and lead hands-on operations over extended periods.
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with Terminal Operating Systems (Navis, MTN, EXB) is an advantage.
- Fluent in English (minimum B2 level); Arabic is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant qualification preferred.
Salary
- €5,000 – €6,000 per month (net), inclusive of shift allowance (paid 12 times per year).
- Performance-based bonus up to 1 month’s salary, linked to operational results and attendance.
