We are seeking a General Nurse to join the Emergency Department in Gauteng. The role involves delivering quality nursing care, supporting admissions, discharges and registrations, and maintaining accurate patient records while following infection control and hospital policies.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in or passed out of Basic General Nursing Qualification.
• Registration with SANC as a General Nurse.
• Previous experience in a hospital environment would be advantageous.
• Must have good communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Compassionate nature.

Responsibilities

• Provide general nursing care to patients in the ED according to policy and procedures.
• Ensure documentation is completed accurately and timeously.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment and patient areas.
• Assist with admissions, discharges and transfers promptly.
• Assist with triage and registration of patients in the ED.
• Adhere to infection control and handle clinical waste per policy.
• Attend to call bells promptly and communicate with patients and staff.
• Participate in handovers at shifts.

The General Nurse will be responsible for providing quality nursing care to patients in accordance with the nursing process, standards of practice, policies and procedures. Also assist with admission, discharge, transfer and record keeping processes as well as maintain patient files.

Duties

• Provide general nursing care to patients within the Emergency Department according to hospital policy, procedure and relevant legislation.
• Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and timeously.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment and patient areas at all times.
• Assist with admissions, discharges and transfers of patients in a timely manner.
• Assist with triage and registration of patients in the ED.
• Adhere to the principles of infection control and handle all clinical waste according to hospital policy.
• Attend to call bells promptly and efficiently. Communicate effectively with patients, families and other staff members
• Participate in the handover process on shifts.

WORKING CONDITIONS
