Job summary

The General Nurse at Netcare will be responsible for providing quality nursing care to patients in the Emergency Department in line with the nursing process, standards of practice, policies and procedures. You will assist with admissions, discharges and transfers and maintain patient files.

Evidence of registration with SANC as a General Nurse and enrollment or completion of Basic General Nursing Qualification is required.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in or passed out of Basic General Nursing Qualification.
• Registration with SANC as a General Nurse.
• Previous hospital experience is advantageous.
• Must have good communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Compassionate nature.

Responsibilities

• Provide general nursing care to patients within the Emergency Department according to hospital policy, procedure and relevant legislation.
• Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and timeously.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment and patient areas at all times.
• Assist with admissions, discharges and transfers of patients in a timely manner.
• Assist with triage and registration of patients in the ED.
• Adhere to the principles of infection control and handle all clinical waste according to hospital policy.
• Attend to call bells promptly and efficiently. Communicate effectively with patients, families and other staff members
• Participate in the handover process on shifts.
