Job Specification :

General Manager – Citrus Farm

Location: Limpopo, South Africa
Reports To: Board of Directors

Job Purpose: The General Manager will be responsible for implementing the strategic plans set by the Board of Directors and overseeing the daily operations of a -hectare citrus farm. This role requires strong leadership, operational management, and agricultural expertise to ensure productivity, efficiency, and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Strategic Implementation & Leadership: Execute the strategic vision and objectives set by the Board of Directors. Provide leadership and direction to all farm departments and staff. Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to the Board. Develop and implement operational policies to improve efficiency and profitability.
  2. Farm Operations Management: Oversee all aspects of citrus production, from planting to harvesting. Ensure optimal use of land, water, and other resources to maximize yield and quality. Implement best agricultural practices, including pest and disease management. Ensure compliance with industry regulations, environmental laws, and certification requirements.
  3. Financial & Budget Management: Develop and manage the farm's annual budget in collaboration with the Finance team. Monitor financial performance and implement cost-control measures. Identify opportunities to improve revenue generation and profitability.
  4. Human Resource Management: Recruit, train, and manage farm employees to ensure productivity and motivation. Implement health and safety policies to ensure a safe working environment. Maintain good labor relations and comply with employment regulations.
  5. Logistics & Supply Chain Management: Oversee post-harvest handling, packing, and logistics to ensure product quality. Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to optimize supply chain and distribution. Maintain strong relationships with suppliers, buyers, and industry stakeholders.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, or a related field.
  2. Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in farm management, preferably citrus farming.
  3. Proven leadership experience in managing large-scale farming operations.
  4. Strong financial and business acumen.
  5. Knowledge of industry best practices, export regulations, and compliance requirements.
