About the Hotel

Our client is a prestigious 5-star luxury hotel located in the scenic Helderberg region of the Western Cape. Nestled among tranquil surroundings, the property is known for its refined guest service, elegant design, and breathtaking mountain and vineyard views. The hotel offers an exclusive and serene retreat for both local and international guests, combining modern sophistication with natural charm.

We are currently seeking an experienced and visionary General Manager to uphold and elevate the property's world-class standards and lead the hotel into its next chapter of success.

Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
  • Oversee all departments including Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Maintenance, and Guest Services.

  • Ensure strict adherence to 5-star service standards, luxury brand protocols, and Tourism Grading Council requirements.

  • Lead daily hotel operations to maximise efficiency, profitability, and guest satisfaction.

Guest Experience Excellence
  • Maintain impeccable standards across all guest-facing areas and hotel facilities.

  • Enforce safety and security measures to protect guests and staff.

  • Monitor and respond to guest feedback, complaints, and online reviews promptly.

  • Cultivate a guest-centric culture that exceeds expectations and fosters loyalty.

Food & Beverage Oversight
  • Supervise all F&B operations including à la carte, breakfast service, room service, and event catering.

  • Maintain quality, consistency, and creative presentation of all F&B offerings.

  • Manage procurement, supplier relationships, stock control, and cost optimisation.

  • Conduct regular inventory audits and implement waste reduction strategies.

Administration & HR Duties
  • Maintain accurate HR records, contracts, timekeeping, and operational checklists.

  • Prepare performance and financial reports for the Group Operations Director.

  • Ensure full compliance with South African labour law and internal HR policies.

  • Monitor staff hours and rosters for payroll processing.

Team Leadership
  • Recruit, onboard, and train high-performing team members.

  • Conduct performance reviews and staff coaching.

  • Ensure staff rosters are aligned with occupancy trends and service demands.

  • Create a positive, respectful, and motivated team culture.

Health, Safety & Compliance
  • Uphold strict health, safety, and hygiene protocols across the property.

  • Maintain all licenses and ensure compliance with labour and tourism regulations.

  • Drive ongoing readiness for audits and 5-star accreditation inspections.

Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum 57 years hotel management experience, ideally in a 5-star or luxury boutique hotel setting.

  • Strong background in F&B operations, supplier negotiation, and inventory management.

  • Demonstrated experience in administration, HR procedures, and payroll preparation.

  • Financially literate with the ability to interpret and act on budgets and operational reports.
