Job summary

Clinvet South Africa in Bloemfontein is seeking a General Maintenance Assistant for a six-month fixed-term assignment in the Maintenance Department. The role covers building and refurbishment tasks, including tiling, painting, plumbing and carpentry, as well as electrical work and working at heights.

You will read blueprints and plans, perform inspections, maintain building infrastructure, and ensure safety with chemical handling and accurate data recording.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 with at least 3 years in a similar role.
• Mechanical or electrical qualification advantageous.
• Basic computer literacy required.
• Driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and/or plans to complete electrical installations and repairs.
• Cutting, grinding and finishing of materials and structures.
• Repair and refurbishment of buildings and related work including tiling, painting and plumbing.
• Carry out HVAC/electrical maintenance and repair work.
• Inspect resources, tools and equipment and document results.
• Handle and store chemicals safely and responsibly.
• Record data accurately for departmental and project use.

General Maintenance Assistant: Clinvet South Africa

Clinvet SA is widely regarded as one of the leading animal health CRO's globally. We are recruiting for a General Maintenance Assistant within our Maintenance Department at Clinvet South Africa at our Bloemfontein site. This is a fixed-term position for a period of 6 (six) months.

Primary Job Purpose

To conduct all project and/or reactive maintenance-based needs pertaining to the building, refurbishment (tiling, painting, plumbing/carpentry) and repair of structures and/or buildings inclusive of electrical and working at heights utilizing task related machinery and equipment.

Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints and/or plans along with associated data and calculations to complete the assigned work (including electrical installations, inspections, and repairs) and conduct intermediate troubleshooting techniques and procedures.
• Conduct cutting, grinding and/or polishing/finishing of materials, structures and/or items fabricated.
• Conduct identified building, refurbishment (tiling, painting, plumbing/carpentry) and repair of structures and/or buildings and roads inclusive of electrical and working at heights related work as assigned.
• Carry out assigned HVAC/electrical maintenance and repair work.
• Conduct inspection of resources, materials, tools and machinery/equipment as well as post job/activity inspections to ensure adherence to specified standards and quality.
• Handling and storage of chemicals and maintenance consumables in an efficient, safe and environmentally sustainable manner.
• Record and manage data accurately for departmental and project use.

Qualification, Training and Experience Requirements

• Grade 12, and at least 3 years’ experience in a similar role
• A relevant qualification (Mechanical or Electrical) will be advantageous
• Basic Computer Literacy
• Driver’s License
