Job description

To produce reagents and assemble various ELISA kits.

To assemble and pack the Rapidtest Rh kit.

To maintain stock inventory and documentation control.

Specific SHE Requirements: Pre-employment, routine, and exit medicals are compulsory due to the nature of the business. Attendance to SHE-related training is mandatory. Adherence to SHE instructions and compliance with SHE site rules are compulsory. NBI uses hazardous and biologically active chemicals.

The successful candidate will be required to use proper PPE and will undergo medical examinations as per OSH Act requirements. Grade 12 with Maths and Science; ND in Analytical Chemistry, Biotechnology, or relevant tertiary qualification. 1-2 years experience in pharmaceutical, chemical, biotechnological, food manufacturing, or laboratory environment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Manufacturing of different reagents and assembling of ELISA kits.
• Preparation of glassware, vials, dried milk diluent, silica gel sachets for ELISA kits.
• Preparation of Human, Sheep, and Bovine sera for ELISA processes.
• Coating microtitre plates for various ELISA assays including Anti-Rabies, Anti-VZ, Anti-Tetanus, Anti-HBs, and Von Willebrand plates.
• Preparation and dilution of coating reagents according to Work Instructions.
• Coating plates using automated Plate Dispenser.
• Vacuum drying plates with the Freeze Dryer.
• Proper packing of microtitre plates for QC analysis.
• Preparation of conjugates, controls, and standards by clarifying, sterile filtering, and diluting as per Work Instructions and reports.
• Preparation of reagents such as freeze-dried OPD, substrate solution, Bovine serum, Conjugate Diluent, and Sulphuric Acid.
• Assembly and packing of the Rapidtest Rh Kit, including component preparation, labeling, weighing, counting, and quality checks.
• Application of adhesive and attachment of patient information onto EDTA tubes.
• Dispensing correct volumes of Anti-D reagent and performing visual QC checks.
• Setting aside retention samples for each batch.
• Assembling kit components, labeling with batch number and expiry date, and completing documentation.

General Housekeeping: Weekly cleaning of the laboratory and proper waste disposal.
