About the job General Assistant (External Applications only)

Ensure comprehensive Customer service in Store. Merchandising of stock, shelf price labelling and housekeeping within designated area of responsibility.

Requirement

  1. Minimum Grade 10 or NQF 3 and 1 (one) year work related experience or
  2. Grade 12 without related work experience
  3. Ability to communicate in English and the dominant language spoken in the geographical area where the position is available.
  4. Valid South African ID or work permit
  5. Ability to perform basic calculations accurately.
  6. Must be willing to work shifts, weekends and public holidays
  7. Must be able to work under pressure

Customer Service

  1. Advise and assist Customers on correct products and queries.
  2. Assist with and resolve Customer complaints

Merchandising Standards

  1. Bulk stock area to be merchandised safely and according to Store layout plan.
  2. Must ensure your area of responsibility is fully merchandised according to Store layout and planograms.

Housekeeping

  1. Ensure that your area is free of obstacles, stock is merchandised immediately after being received and that Customers can enter and leave your aisle without any risk of injury or irritation.
  2. Correct shelf price labelling within area of responsibility.
  3. Ensure Checklist completed as required when on duty with Canteen and Toilet/Showers schedule.

Safety (OHSA) Requirements

  1. Safety (OHSA) compliance (e.g. use of safety gear, ensure customer and staff safety) within area of responsibility.
  2. Ensure area of responsibility (racking and bulk) stock merchandised safe to Customers and Colleagues to move safely within Store.
  3. Report any discrepancies to the Store Manager.

Manage Stock Loss

Report damaged stock within area of responsibility to Store Manager.

  1. Achieves set targets and completes work accurately and at the required standard.
  2. Delivers best practice quality/standards as established in the company.
  3. Makes an effort to follow through on commitments.

Solve Problems

  1. Identifies problems and seeks root cause.
  2. Resolves problems and escalates issues accordingly using relevant information available in own department and operational work environment to resolve problems.

  1. Makes decisions within framework of company policies and within set timelines.
  2. Makes decisions giving due consideration to consequences of the decision made in area of responsibility.
  3. Implements decisions made in line with agreed processes and policies.

  1. Handles pressure well and is consistent in controlling own responses irrespective of time/or workload pressures.
