Job summary

A global leader in its sector is seeking a General Accountant to join their Centralised Accounting Team in Cape Town. In this role, you’ll ensure timely reporting, maintain compliance with IFRS, and assist with audits. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, 3–5 years of experience, and strong analytical skills. This is a 6-month fixed-term contract with an immediate start.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years’ general accounting experience in a commercial setting.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, US GAAP/SOX exposure is a plus.
• Fluent in English; French is a bonus.

Are you a detail-driven accounting professional with a passion for accuracy, compliance, and financial integrity? Our client, a global leader in its sector, is seeking a General Accountant (GL) to join their Centralised Accounting Team for a 6-month fixed-term contract.

In this role, you’ll support finance operations across the group, working closely with the Financial Controller to ensure timely and accurate reporting while maintaining compliance with IFRS and internal controls.

What You’ll Be Doing

Perform reconciliations for AR, AP, fixed assets, leases, and inventory
Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
Maintain and resolve balance sheet account discrepancies
Apply IFRS and support compliance with US GAAP and SOX (if applicable)
Assist with internal audits, external audits, and statutory reporting
Provide financial analysis and collaborate with operations teams

What We’re Looking For

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or Finance
3–5 years’ general accounting experience in a commercial setting
Strong knowledge of IFRS (US GAAP/SOX exposure a big plus)
Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with ERP systems
Fluent in English (French is a bonus)
