Our client is looking for a GDS System Operator (Hybrid) in Sandton

POSITION INFO :

Roles and ResponsibilitiesJob Summary :

Person must be highly skilled and motivated within Flight Systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience and in-depth knowledge of Global Distribution Systems (GDS) with a focus on Amadeus and Galileo.

The Flight Systems Specialist will be responsible for managing, optimising, and supporting our GDS flight systems to ensure seamless travel operations and excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities :

GDS Management :

Administer and maintain the Amadeus and Galileo GDS systems. Ensure the systems are functioning optimally, and troubleshoot any issues that arise.

Collaborate with GDS providers to stay updated on system enhancements and updates.

System Optimization :

Analyze and optimize flight booking processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Implement best practices for using GDS systems within the organization.

Develop and maintain documentation for system configurations and processes.

Training and Support : Provide training to staff on the use of Amadeus and Galileo systems.

Offer technical support to resolve GDS-related issues for internal teams. Create user guides and training materials for ongoing education.

Data Management :

Ensure the integrity and accuracy of flight data within the GDS systems.

Monitor and manage data feeds, ensuring timely and correct information updates.

Generate reports and insights from GDS data to inform business decisions.

Act as the primary point of contact with GDS vendors.

Negotiate contracts and service agreements with GDS providers. Stay informed about new features, functionalities, and industry trends from GDS vendors.

Compliance and Security : Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards related to GDS operations.

Implement and monitor security measures to protect sensitive flight information.

Project Management :

Lead and participate in projects related to GDS system upgrades, integrations, and migrations. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Assist in booking of flights.

Qualifications :

Extensive experience (2+ years) working with Amadeus and Galileo GDS systems. Strong technical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve system issues.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to train and support staff in using GDS systems effectively.

Analytical mindset with a focus on optimising processes and systems. Knowledge of the travel industry and airline operations. Project management experience is a plus.

Additional Skills :

Familiarity with other GDS systems (e.g., Sabre) is advantageous. Certification in Amadeus or Galileo systems is preferred. Proficiency in data analysis tools and reporting software. Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Travel Management, or a related field can be beneficial.

Working Conditions : Full-time position with standard office hours; occasional travel may be required.
