GARMENT TECHNOLOGIST - JHB

SALARY : NEG

Responsibilities:

• Liaise with all suppliers to ensure they are following the critical path and managing timelines.
• Handle fabrics to ensure they are appropriate for the chosen design, considering MOQ and lead times.
• Create tech packs together with the product team, utilizing informed construction knowledge.
• Develop overall specifications for each garment, including grade rules and graded specs.
• Proofread tech packs to address all visible issues and errors at that stage, including fit samples, PPS, and BPS.
• Maintain a clear overview of each collection to ensure a smooth process.
• Enhance garment quality to a higher level.
• Work with the in-house computer system to liaise with offshore factories, addressing queries on technical specs.
• Attend fit meetings for the collections you oversee.
• Collaborate with product developers to provide fit comments to different suppliers through text, pictures, and diagrams in tech packs.
• Ensure tech packs are kept up to date and accurate after fittings, range reviews, and production tracking.
• Update the sample tracker weekly to ensure suppliers have marketing shoot samples ready on time, as well as for bulk production.
• Be proficient in Excel, have basic Illustrator skills, and be quick to learn new computer systems.
• Possess excellent knowledge of garment construction and patterns.
• Have extensive fabric knowledge.
• Be comfortable working to strict schedules and setting schedules for different suppliers.
• Proofread and amend tech packs for different collections.
• Demonstrate problem-solving abilities to address issues before they reach sampling and during the sampling stage.
• Able to measure garments accurately as per specifications.
• 1-2 years of experience in a similar or complementary role.
