Job description

Active Capital Management is an investment and asset management company. The company, since inception, has been conducting regulatory and business strategy research. We are looking for 1 Fund Administrator for Active Special and Healthcare Fund respectively, to help manage and administer fund disbursement and operations in meeting portfolio company growth. The officer shall work from our Accra office at Silver Tower and travel to Johannesburg in between, per our strategy across the sub-region.

Job Description: The officer shall perform the following but not limited to:

  1. Work with the compliance officer/managers to meet the required reporting guidelines for the fund, both as a fund and as an Authorized Financial Services Provider.
  2. Collaborate with the investment team unit from Johannesburg in making deals that fall under the fund mandates.
  3. Assist in the review of the portfolio companies for the investment team’s decision and compliance, deal making, as well as fund disbursement across Africa.
  4. Support the partnership program with local financial institutions in countries across Africa to find potential deal-making opportunities.
  5. Build partnerships with development institutions, funds of funds, and other related investment and development financing institutions (e.g., BII, USAID, CIDA, AFDB).
  6. Conduct fund quarterly reviews and annual general meetings for the respective fund.
  7. Report to the head of the fund (management team) that conducts the fundraising activities.
  8. Work with the research team in reporting trends and industry analysis for country investment opportunities in Africa.
  9. Collaborate with the compliance officer to share a clear understanding of the fund's mandate and knowledge of prospective investees, ensuring easy access to growth capital and real deal needs.

Requirements:

Must hold at least one or two of the following:

  1. A postgraduate degree in financial management, development studies, and/or be part-qualified with ACCA, Affiliates ACCA, CA (SA), CA (GH), or CFA.
  2. At least 3 years of working experience in the financial sector.
  3. Strong understanding of securities and exchange operations; securities and exchange qualifications are essential (e.g., Ghana Stock Exchange qualification as an investment advisor).
  4. Knowledge of market operations and alternative investment operations, private equity dynamics, and investment and financing operation requirements.
  5. Understanding of the JSE alternative listing approach and others.
  6. Very assertive with strong value judgment for decision making and reporting.
  7. Strong ethical principles and understanding of anti-money laundering regulations and compliance procedures.
  8. Good writing and analytical skills; very intuitive in the decision-making process.
  9. Strong understanding of the African business environment, geopolitical dynamics in doing business, culture, and human errors in doing business in Africa.
  10. Prospective candidates should be ready to travel and, where possible, able to relocate if necessary.
