Job summary

Apex Group in Cape Town is seeking a Fund Accountant to prepare timely portfolio valuations and maintain fund accounting records. The role involves liaising with fund managers, brokers and custodians to resolve issues and ensure accurate financial statements.

You will reconcile accounts, build strong client relationships, and support audit processes. Candidates should have at least 2 years’ experience, a commerce qualification, and strong Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Commerce (including Financial Accounting II or equivalent).
• At least 2 years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Knowledge of hedge funds is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare daily, weekly and/or monthly portfolio valuations.
• Maintain the underlying accounting records for assigned funds.
• Liaise with fund managers, brokers, and custodians to resolve issues in a timely manner.
• Reconcile brokerage and custodian accounts to underlying records.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships while delivering high-quality service.
• Assist external auditors and support the audit process.
• Support senior team members with audit queries.
• Conduct periodic reviews and identify errors or inconsistencies.
