Job summary

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with CA(SA) or equivalent.
• 2–4 years post-qualification experience in fund accounting.

• Excellent attention to detail with proactive ownership.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly and quarterly NAV reports and reconcile figures with fund administrators.
• Maintain loan-level accounting records, including interest accruals, fees and FX.
• Calculate management and performance fees and reconcile fund expenses.
• Process capital calls, investor drawdowns, subscriptions, redemptions and distributions.
• Assist with fund financing facilities, repayments and covenant reporting.
• Prepare financial reports, management information, budgets and board packs.
• Coordinate annual fund audits and respond to auditor queries.
• Assist with tax reporting and compliance with external tax advisers.
• Support investor reporting and respond to due diligence requests.
• Identify opportunities to improve fund accounting processes through AI, automation and coding.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

Fund Accountant job vacancy in Sandton, Johannesburg.

We are looking for a Fund Accountant with 2 – 4 years experience for a permanent position based in Sandton, Johannesburg.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare monthly and quarterly NAV reports and reconcile figures with fund administrators.
• Maintain loan-level accounting records, including interest accruals, fees and foreign exchange.
• Calculate management and performance fees and reconcile fund expenses.
• Process capital calls, investor drawdowns, subscriptions, redemptions, distributions and transfers.
• Assist with fund financing facilities, repayments and lender covenant reporting.
• Prepare financial reports, management information, budgets and board packs.
• Coordinate annual fund audits, prepare supporting schedules and respond to auditor queries.
• Assist with tax reporting and compliance in collaboration with external tax advisers.
• Support investor reporting and respond to due diligence requests.
• Liaise with fund administrators, auditors, depositaries, AIFMs and tax advisers.
• Identify opportunities to improve fund accounting processes through AI, automation and coding.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

Requirements:

• Qualified accountant: CA(SA), ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
• 2–4 years’ post-qualification experience.
• Currently working in fund accounting or fund administration.
• Experience with open- and closed-ended fund structures.
• Knowledge of NAV reporting, investor allocations, subscriptions, redemptions and financial statement preparation.
• Solid knowledge of IFRS.
• Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills.
• Confident, hands-on use of AI tools to improve processes.
• Excellent attention to detail, initiative and accountability.
• Ability to manage multiple funds, competing deadlines and stakeholder relationships.
