We are recruiting for a Function Chef to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day running of the kitchen, managing kitchen staff, menu planning, food preparation, and ensuring high standards of food presentation. The Function Chef will also maintain hygiene, health, and safety standards in the kitchen.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Handle all aspects of purchasing, food preparation, and presentation.
  • Deputize in the Culinary Manager’s absence if necessary.
  • Promote the professional growth and development of the culinary team.
  • Ensure all staff are familiar with the day's requirements.
  • Provide culinary direction in a positive and impactful manner.
  • Manage the kitchen operation with a passionate interest in the business beyond the kitchen doors.
  • Ensure necessary stocks are available at the right quality and quantity.
  • Produce menus that demonstrate flair, imagination, and upmarket awareness, meeting customer needs and VIP function preferences.
  • Oversee and develop the organization of food preparation and production according to business demands while maintaining TsAfrika standards.
  • Ensure strict adherence to statutory and company hygiene regulations, continuously improving systems and processes.
  • Manage food budgets to meet targets related to spending, profit margins, and expenses.
  • Report and follow up on maintenance issues promptly.
  • Ensure smooth communication between service areas and the kitchen.
  • Check each dish for quality, quantity, presentation, and correct temperature before serving.
  • Attend seminars and training courses as directed.
  • Enhance management knowledge and principles for career advancement and professional standards.
  • Stay updated with food trends and best practices.
Qualifications
  • Matric certificate and culinary qualification/diploma.
  • Experience in upmarket function catering.
  • Ability to control costs and plan menus effectively.
