The Communications and Signal Processing Research Group at University College Dublin (UCD) invites applications for two fully funded PhD studentships in the area of Integrated Sensing and Communication Systems. These positions are supported by Science Foundation Ireland and Research Ireland, and will be supervised by Prof. Mark Flanagan.

Research Areas Include
  • Design of novel waveforms and signal processing algorithms
  • Development of channel models for advanced antenna technologies (e.g., Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces, Extremely Large MIMO)
  • Joint optimization strategies for wireless communication and sensing systems
Studentship Details
  • Annual stipend of €25,000 (tax-free) for four years
  • Full coverage of tuition fees
  • Travel budget for attendance at international conferences and workshops
  • Funded international research visit during the third year
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with First or Upper Second Class Honours in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Strong foundation in mathematics, signal processing, and communication theory
  • Proficiency in programming (MATLAB, Python, or C/C++)
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
