Placements24 is seeking a compassionate Childminder & Aftercare Specialist in George, Western Cape. The role involves supervising 5-12 year olds after school, assisting with homework, and planning engaging activities to support development in a nurturing, safe environment.

You will coordinate with parents, implement safety protocols, and deliver healthy snacks while promoting positive peer interactions. This is a full-time, in-person position based in George.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a compassionate and energetic Childminder & Aftercare Specialist to provide exceptional care for children in George, Western Cape . This role focuses on creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children can thrive after school hours. You will be responsible for overseeing homework completion, engaging children in recreational and educational activities, and ensuring their overall well-being. Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of children aged 5-12 years during aftercare hours.
• Assist children with homework and assignments, providing academic support as needed.
• Plan and lead engaging, age-appropriate activities, including crafts, games, reading, and outdoor play.
• Prepare healthy snacks and ensure children are kept hydrated throughout the afternoon.
• Manage children's behavior effectively, fostering a positive and respectful environment.
• Communicate regularly with parents regarding their child's day, progress, and any concerns.
• Maintain a clean and organized play and study area.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and emergency procedures.
• Facilitate social interaction and positive peer relationships among the children.
• Coordinate with parents on pickup and drop-off schedules and specific care instructions.

Requirements

• Previous experience in childcare, babysitting, or as an aftercare assistant.
• A genuine love for children and a patient, nurturing disposition.
• Knowledge of child development stages and age-appropriate activities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple children and maintain a calm demeanor under pressure.
• First Aid and CPR certification is a strong asset.
• Reliable transportation to the George, Western Cape location.
• Ability to assist with homework across various subjects.
• Must be able to provide a Police Clearance Certificate.
• Understanding of basic nutrition for children's snacks.
