Job summary

Tiko invites a Web Engineer to shape the structure and design of our web pages and mobile applications, balancing functionality and aesthetics. You will lead enhancements to our corporate site, adding dashboards and dynamic elements to drive engagement and improve the user experience.

We seek experts with 6+ years in frontend tooling (TypeScript, HTML, CSS), 4+ years in Angular, and experience with micro-frontends/monorepos. This role supports remote or hybrid work across international teams.

Tiko is an African nonprofit committed to strengthening the potential and resilience of adolescent girls across Africa. We address the “Triple Threat” of unintended pregnancy, HIV infection, and sexual and gender-based violence by building local health ecosystems that provide stigma-free, no-cost, quality-assured services.

Our model brings together key local actors: community-based organizations (CBO) with peer mobilisers who act as health companions to girls; public and private health clinics that deliver care; and retail partners that redeem Tiko Miles -our behaviour-change incentive programme that rewards service uptake and feedback.

The Job

As a Web Engineer, you’ll play a crucial role in shaping the structure and design of our web pages and mobile applications, ensuring a perfect balance between functionality and aesthetics. You'll take the lead in further developing our corporate website, adding new features like dashboards and other dynamic materials that drive engagement and enhance the user experience. This is your chance to bring creativity and technical expertise together to make a lasting impact!

• Implementing visual elements that users see and interact within a web and mobile application.
• Maintain, improve existing features ensuring they can be fully utilized by the end-user.
• Work with multi-disciplinary teams, such as back-end developers to ensure maximum optimization of the platform.
• Responsible for dashboarding and making sure that looks great.

About You

You have an eye for both development and design and can apply your creative expertise to our core websites and applications to create user-friendly solutions. You possess a thorough understanding of new and emerging technologies and how they can be applied to our platform to enhance the user’s experience.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Frontend/Web Engineer with portfolios showcasing your completed projects.
• Experience working with autonomous teams.
• Solid understanding of the entire web development process (design, development, and deployment).
• At least 6 years of professional experience working with frontend tools, including TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
• A minimum of 4 years of professional experience with Angular (version 17+).
• Experience with Micro-frontends, monorepos is mandatory.
• Excellent English and communication skills.
• You are currently based in South Africa, Kenya, or Portugal.

The Rewards

The monthly gross salary brackets for this position are:

Portugal: €2,165 - €3,200 (x14)

South Africa: R44,977 - R67,000 (x12)

Kenya: Ksh235,930 -Ksh353,000 (x12)

Your final salary will be determined based on your experience and alignment with your future colleagues.
