Job description

Faircape Restaurant and Catering, part of Faircape Life retirement villages, is located in 6 prime locations across the Western Cape providing meals to village residents and patients in the onsite healthcare centres.

We are seeking a Food Service Manager for our facility within Somerset West (Heritage Manor). The Food Service Manager is the dynamic force behind delivering exceptional dining experiences, ensuring every meal, refreshment, and drink is served to perfection.

From overseeing the restaurant to managing the vibrant bar and cozy coffee shop, this role offers the opportunity in creating a memorable and high-quality service for every resident.

With full responsibility for the daily operations, you’ll be crafting an unforgettable atmosphere where food, drink, and service exceed expectations!

Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Manage meal reservations, seating arrangements, and ensure cleanliness of tables, cutlery, and glassware.
  • Oversee beverage service, including special occasion cocktails and attentive wine service.
  • Manage waiter schedules, shifts, and replacements, verifying hours and handling feedback.
  • Ensure staff are well-trained on company policies and procedures.
  • Supervise meal and beverage service in the clubhouse and healthcare facilities with waiter support.
  • Coordinate afternoon tea and cake service, collaborate with bar staff, and handle daily cash reconciliation for the bar and coffee shop.
  • Ensure accurate billing and maintain a safe, hygienic environment in line with company standards.
  • Assist the Village Manager with event setups, themed lunches, and special functions.
  • Welcome residents, assist with event setup and breakdown and ensure the patio umbrellas are opened during favourable weather conditions and properly folded at the conclusion of each day.
  • Conduct daily inspections of clubhouse equipment, lighting, and temperature settings; report discrepancies to management.

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualification in Hospitality advantageous

Experience:

  • Proven experience in the hospitality industry and/or similar environment
  • Knowledge of serving etiquette and basic wine knowledge

Working Hours:

The incumbent will be required to work 16.25 shifts per month, according to the roster. Normal working days are Mondays to Sundays from 07h00 - 19h00.

In addition to a lovely working environment, the salary we offer is competitive. The amount offered will be dependent on qualifications, experience, and other market-related factors.
