Job summary

Pragma Global is seeking a Software Engineer in Cape Town to develop well-structured software. You will contribute to the product backlog, work with a Scrum team, and help ensure quality through code reviews and testing.

The role emphasizes collaboration, continuous learning, and the use of AI assistive technologies to improve development efficiency while upholding high standards of engineering judgment, security, and ethics.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in computer science, engineering, or related field.
• At least 2 years' experience as a Software Engineer.
• Experience with JavaScript ES6 is advantageous.
• Experience with React and TypeScript is advantageous.
• Experience with AI assistive technologies for development.
• Familiarity with REST APIs and asynchronous programming.
• Knowledge of Zustand / TanStack Query state management.
• Experience with CSS/HTML is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop well-designed software approved by Product Owner.
• Develop high-quality software approved by QA Manager.
• Participate actively in Scrum process.
• Troubleshoot and resolve incidents in the product.
• Mentor and coach team members.
• Learn new tools and technologies continuously.

Minimum Requirements

• A tertiary qualification in a relevant field (Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in e.g. Computer Science, Engineering, etc).
• A minimum of 2 years' experience as a Software Engineer.
• Experience in JavaScript in ES6 (advantageous).
• Experience in CSS and HTML (preferred).
• Experience in React and Typescript (preferred).
• Experience with component-based architecture (advantageous).
• Experience with AI assistive technologies for development.
• Familiarity with state management approaches (Zustand, TanStack Query,etc.).
• Understanding of REST APIs and asynchronous programming.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop well-designed software to the approval of the Product Owner.
• Develop high-quality software to the approval of the QA Manager.
• Participate actively in the Scrum process.
• Troubleshoot and solve incidents in the product.
• Build knowledge of new technical tools and relevant technology on a continuous basis.
• Provide mentorship and coaching to other team members.
