Main Job Purpose
The responsibilities of the Financial Accountant are the accurate running of the accounting and financial activities of the company.
Analyse the economic stability of the company and provide financial information to other departments, enabling these stakeholders to make operational, budgeting, and strategic decisions.
Report on costs, productivity, margins, and Group performance.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12, Bcomm degree with major coursework in accounting, finance, economics or a related field - completed articles would be advantageous.
- MS Office (advanced in excel) and SAGE Evolution.
- 3 - 5 years of related experience.
Required Competencies to Meet the Job Outcomes
- At least 3 years financial management experience
- International Financial Reporting Standards
- Auditing practices and principles
- Computer applications related to the role
- Applicable laws, codes and regulations
- Valid driver's licence
- Certificate of medical fitness
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
All duties take place in accordance with the requirements of the client, Occupational Health and Safety Act and other relevant legislation.
- Overall financial management and oversight related to multiple projects
- Completion and submission of monthly invoices (including supporting documentation) for multiple projects
- Management of insurance claims relating to multiple projects
- Preparation of journal entries and general ledger and various account reconciliations
- Completion of the bank reconciliation and relevant cash book entries
- Management of the fixed asset register
- Assists with monthly management accounts
- Analyse performance against budgets
- Reviewing and releasing of EFT's / payments
- Assists with managing daily / monthly cash flows
- Ensure that all tax, regulatory and any other statutory requirements are attended to and complied with
- Oversee and control trade debtors and creditors control functions
- Develop and implement financial management controls and mechanisms that minimize financial risk
- Liaison with external auditors
- Group Company Secretarial duties as agreed with Group
- Assists with annual BEE audit
- Preparation of annual financial statements
- Assists with the preparation of annual budgets
- Other financial related activities as required by the Group Financial Manager and / or CFO
- Management of a subordinate / s
- Adhoc travel within South Africa as required
