Job description

Set up your home office from almost anywhere in South Africa and get ready to teach English online to adult learners from around the world! With our flexible scheduling, you’ll be able to teach group and private lessons at times that suit you best each week. Get trained on how to teach on our sophisticated, but easy-to-use online classroom and scheduling platform. Our academic team provides most lesson materials, so you can skip hours of lesson prep and focus your energy on connecting with the students you meet in the classroom. Though our peak hours are in the afternoon, lessons are scheduled 24/7, 360 plus days a year. EF’s Online teaching opportunities fit work into your busy schedule, whether you’re working multiple jobs, balancing family life or continuing your graduate studies.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct 40- to 45-minute conversation-based group and private online lessons with adult learners.
  • Provide after-class reports to all students, detailing their progress and ongoing recommendations for improvement.
  • Keep up to date with all platform and classroom enhancements.
  • Manage own teaching schedule.

Requirements

  • South African Residency. You must live in South Africa and be in possession of a South African identity document.
  • C2 level English speaker with a neutral accent.
  • Completed Bachelor’s degree (Compulsory).
  • 120-hour TEFL teaching certificate (Compulsory).
  • Highly computer literate.
  • Professional, energetic, and excited about people.
  • Previous teaching experience is a plus, but not required. Other work experience counts.

Must have at home infrastructure:

  • Backup power source, i.e. UPS or Generator in case of power outages or load shedding which charges both the laptop and your router for a minimum of 4-hours.
  • Surge protector plug (minimum required 230V - 50Hz).



Compensation

Payment is based on hourly rates: from R60.00 up to R87.00 per hour, based on performance.

All completed hours must be invoiced, and payment excludes any Tax deductions.
