Foundation Phase Teacher

The Foundation Phase Teacher plays a crucial role in nurturing young pupils, fostering their intellectual curiosity, creativity, and personal development. This role requires a strong commitment to engaging, inclusive, and adaptive education, ensuring pupils receive a well-rounded foundation for lifelong learning.

Skills and Requirements:

  • An appropriate professional teaching qualification from a recognised institution (university degree and/or professional qualification – Foundation Phase);
  • Extensive experience gained in a Preparatory School (Foundation Phase teaching);
  • Knowledgeable and intellectually inquisitive with the drive and passion for developing and caring for children;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills with the ability to engage collaboratively with pupils, staff and parents;
  • An open and creative outlook and the ability to adapt to changing needs of education in a primary school;
  • Incorporating thinking skills to foster independent problem solvers, critical and creative thinkers;
  • Self-motivated team player with good organisational, time management and administration skills;
  • Good computer literacy, and the ability to use technology to enhance the learning experience;
  • Ability to promote and embrace diversity and inclusion;
  • SACE registered with the requisite clearance certificates.

Duties and Responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to:

  • Delivering engaging and developmentally appropriate lessons (Foundation Phase), aligned with pupils’ individual needs and abilities;
  • Maintaining a disciplined yet supportive classroom environment that fosters learning;
  • Staying informed about education trends and best practices, incorporating new strategies into teaching;
  • Developing inspiring and contemporary teaching materials tailored to pupil interests and learning styles;
  • Maintaining exceptional administration and organizational skills, ensuring detailed record-keeping;
    •Applying differential lesson plans to meet the educational needs, abilities and achievements of the individual pupil and groups of pupils;
  • Communicating effectively and developing relationships at all levels with pupils, staff and parents;
  • Participating fully to the life and extracurricular activities of the School, including pastoral care, sport, culture, outdoor education and other school events/functions;
  • Upholding and integrating the School’s ethos and values into all aspects of education;
  • General administration
