Job Description
This role will be responsible for the design and execution of a sound regional channel management programme to ensure contribution to the achievement of the business strategy. This will include the development and expansion of relationships with key channel partners in the areas of channel development, in an effort to improve customer experience. Strategic PartneringDrive strategic plans for strategic partnering, focusing on innovative partner identification, relationship building techniques, and partnership agreement negotiations.
Implement the sales strategy for a significant part of the organization. May also involve leading major strategic bids.
Pricing Strategy
Lead the development and implementation of the pricing strategy for a significant portfolio, anticipating complex issues, challenges, and opportunities, and ensuring integration with wider strategy.
Contract Management
Manage the delivery of a major part of the organization's contract management program while taking personal responsibility for a limited number of mission-critical contracts.
Leadership and Direction
Identify and communicate the actions needed to implement the function's strategy and business plan within the business area or department; explain the relationship to the broader organization's mission, vision, and values; motivate people to commit to these tenets and do extraordinary things to achieve local business goals.
Manage budget plans for a department. May involve development or delivery or both.
External Partners - Incentive Programs
Manage the incentive program for a significant segment of external partners, ensuring optimal performance of the segment and the partners involved.
External Partners - Dispute Management
Manage a substantial part in the dispute management cycle among external partners, ensuring conflicts are resolved efficiently to support smooth-running operations
Training development and delivery
Design and develop training systems to ensure employees within a business unit achieve their full performance potential. Deliver training programs for senior executives
Performance Management
Manage and report on performance within the department or area of responsibility; set appropriate performance objectives for direct reports and hold individuals accountable for achieving them; take appropriate corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of annual business objectives.
Organizational Capability Building
Evaluate the capabilities of staff within the department to identify gaps and prioritize development activities. Implement the organization's formal development frameworks within the area of responsibility. Coach and mentor others to support the development of the organization's talent pool.
Relationship building
Fosters trust and loyalty (understand and respond to client needs). Drives business growth (increased sales and client retention). Enhances communication (effective communication, proactive issue resolution). Supports strategic partnerships (partnership development and collaboration)
Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to close deals and manage conflicts
Strategic thinking
Ability to think strategically and develop plans to increase market share and pivot where necessary.
Product knowledge
In-depth knowledge of life insurance products and solutions, including their features, benefits, and applications.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience Required:
National Senior Certificate (NQF Level 4)
FAIS and Fit and Proper compliance requirements
5 years management experience with 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role
Good understanding of insurance regulations
Additional Qualifications and Experience (Advantageous/Preferable):
MBA
Insurance professional with exposure to Group Insurance industry
Business development experience
Key Individual (RE1)
This role can be based either in Johannesburg or Cape Town.
