Job summary

Placements24 in East London seeks an experienced Formulation Development Scientist to join its R&D team. The role focuses on designing, developing, and optimizing novel pharmaceutical dosage forms to enhance drug delivery and therapeutic outcomes.

You will collaborate with analytical development and manufacturing teams, conduct pre-formulation studies, and contribute to regulatory filings, with GMP/regulatory familiarity and a commitment to scientific excellence in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master's degree in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in pharmaceutical formulation development.
• In-depth knowledge of drug delivery technologies, excipient science, and pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.
• Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment used for formulation development and analysis.
• Familiarity with GMP, regulatory guidelines, and dossier preparation.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop various pharmaceutical dosage forms (e.g., oral solid dosage, injectables, topical formulations) for diverse therapeutic applications.
• Conduct pre-formulation studies to characterize APIs and excipients, ensuring compatibility and stability.
• Optimize formulations for improved bioavailability, stability, manufacturability, and patient adherence.
• Perform formulation characterization and stability studies according to ICH guidelines.
• Prepare detailed development reports, batch manufacturing records, and contribute to regulatory filings.
• Collaborate with analytical development and manufacturing teams for successful technology transfer and scale-up.
