Job summary

Greys Recruitment is seeking an experienced Form Fill and Seal Machine Operator for a food manufacturing client in Montague Gardens, Cape Town. You will operate, monitor and adjust packaging machinery to ensure efficient production, accurate records and high quality packaging.

The role requires Grade 12, 2–3 years experience with Form Fill and Seal equipment, knowledge of packaging processes, basic mechanical troubleshooting, and a strong safety focus. Shift work and overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• Matric with knowledge of packaging processes and machine settings.
• 2–3 years of experience operating Form Fill and Seal machinery in a food/manufacturing environment.
• Basic mechanical troubleshooting and understanding of GMP/food safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Operate Form Fill and Seal packaging machines safely and efficiently.
• Set up machines per production requirements and product specs.
• Adjust temperature, speed, sealing and filling parameters.
• Monitor product quality and packaging standards during runs.
• Perform start-up and shut-down procedures on equipment.
• Carry out basic machine inspections and preventative maintenance.
• Troubleshoot faults and report major breakdowns to maintenance.
• Maintain accurate production and downtime records and minimize waste.

Job description

Our client in the food manufacturing and FMCG industry is looking for an experienced Form Fill and Seal Machine Operator to join their Production Department in Montague Gardens, Cape Town. The successful candidate will operate, monitor and adjust Form Fill and Seal packaging machinery, while ensuring efficient production, quality packaging, accurate production records and safe working practices.

Requirements:

• Grade 12 / Matric.
• Minimum 2–3 years' experience operating Form Fill and Seal machinery in a manufacturing or food production environment.
• Knowledge of packaging processes and machine settings.
• Basic mechanical troubleshooting ability.
• Understanding of GMP and food safety standards will be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate Form Fill and Seal packaging machines efficiently and safely.
• Set up machines according to production requirements and product specifications.
• Adjust machine settings including temperature, speed, sealing and filling parameters.
• Monitor product quality and packaging standards throughout production runs.
• Carry out start-up and shut-down procedures on equipment.
• Perform routine machine inspections and basic preventative maintenance.
• Troubleshoot machine faults and report major breakdowns to the maintenance team.
• Ensure the correct film rolls, labels, coding and packaging materials are used.
• Maintain accurate production and downtime records.
• Minimise wastage and improve machine efficiency.
• Follow food safety, GMP, HACCP and Health & Safety requirements.
• Keep the work area clean and maintain housekeeping standards.
• Assist with stock counts and machine changeovers when required.
• Work closely with the Quality Control and Maintenance teams.
