Job description

Our client, a leading manufacturer in the packaging sector, is looking for a qualified Forklift Operator to support daily logistics and production operations.

This role is essential for maintaining a smooth and safe flow of raw materials and finished goods across the plant.

The ideal candidate will be hands-on, safety-conscious, and able to perform in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities :

Operate a forklift safely to transport raw materials to production lines and move finished goods to storage or staging areas

Load and unload delivery trucks efficiently, ensuring no damage to goods

Conduct pre-operation checks and report mechanical issues immediately

Maintain proper stacking, handling, and inspection of pallets

Assist in preparing materials such as trolleys, cylinders, and solvents for the next shift

Keep work areas clean and organized in compliance with 5S, GMP, HACCP, and EHS standards

Record movement logs and support inventory tracking as needed

Adhere to all site safety protocols, including PPE and traffic rules

Minimum Requirements :

Grade 10 or 12; ITI in a relevant trade (Motor Mechanic, Fitter) is an advantage

2 to 6 years' experience in forklift operations, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting

Valid South African forklift license (LMV or HMV depending on load class)

Solid understanding of forklift maintenance and safe operating practices

Awareness of GMP, HACCP, 5S, and EHS standards

Physically fit, disciplined, and able to work rotating shifts under pressure

Strong communication skills and ability to follow instructions precisely

Internal Interactions : Production, Warehouse, Dispatch, and Shift In-Charge teams

External Interactions : Occasional interaction with delivery drivers, logistics vendors, and gate security
