Placements24 is seeking a diligent Forestry Technician specializing in Silviculture to join our team in Bloemfontein. You will assist with silvicultural treatments, tree planting, stand improvement, and forest inventories to support sustainable forest management in the Free State.

This hands-on role requires a Diploma or Certificate in Forestry or Silviculture, practical field experience, and ability to work outdoors in varied weather.

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the planning and execution of silvicultural treatments, including reforestation, afforestation, and stand improvement activities.
• Conduct forest inventories and surveys to assess tree growth, health, and timber volumes.
• Monitor forests for pests, diseases, and other threats, reporting findings and assisting in control measures.
• Manage tree nursery operations, including seed collection, propagation, and seedling care.
• Operate and maintain forestry equipment, such as chainsaws, GPS devices, and measurement tools.
• Supervise field crews involved in planting, thinning, and other silvicultural operations.

Requirements
