Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Forestry Technician to support sustainable forestry operations around Randburg. This field-based role involves assisting professional foresters in inventory, data collection, and implementing conservation practices in outdoor environments.

The ideal candidate will hold a Diploma or Certificate in Forestry or Environmental Science, be physically fit for varied terrain, and proficient with GPS and basic data-logging tools. Training provided.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Forestry Technician to support their sustainable forestry operations in and around Randburg . This field-based role involves assisting professional foresters in managing forest resources, conducting inventory assessments, and implementing conservation practices. You will work outdoors in various conditions, collecting data, monitoring tree health, and helping to ensure the long-term ecological health and productivity of forest areas. The ideal candidate is physically fit, enjoys working in natural environments, and possesses a foundational knowledge of forestry principles and practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct forest inventories, including measuring tree height, diameter, and species identification.
• Assist in the planning and implementation of reforestation and afforestation projects.
• Monitor forest health for signs of disease, insect infestation, or environmental damage.
• Collect data on soil conditions, water resources, and wildlife habitats within forest areas.
• Operate and maintain forestry equipment, such as GPS devices, compasses, and data loggers.
