Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Forestry Technician to support sustainable forestry operations around Randburg. This field-based role involves assisting professional foresters in inventory, data collection, and implementing conservation practices in outdoor environments.

The ideal candidate will hold a Diploma or Certificate in Forestry or Environmental Science, be physically fit for varied terrain, and proficient with GPS and basic data-logging tools. Training provided.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Certificate in Forestry, Environmental Science, or related field.
• Previous forestry field experience or strong internship background.
• Ability to work outdoors in varied weather and terrain.
• Proficiency with GPS and basic data collection tools.

Responsibilities

• Conduct forest inventories measuring height, diameter, and species.
• Assist planning and execution of reforestation projects.
• Monitor forest health for disease or damage signs.
• Collect soil, water, and wildlife habitat data in forests.
• Operate and maintain GPS devices, compasses, and data loggers.
