Placements24 seeks a Forestry Manager to oversee operations in and around Sandton, South Africa. This on-site role requires deep forestry knowledge, strategic planning, and team leadership to promote sustainable harvesting and health of forest resources.

You will manage budgets, guide silvicultural activities, and ensure compliance with environmental standards while driving operational excellence in a leading sustainable forestry enterprise.

Qualifications

• Degree in Forestry or related environmental science field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in forest management with leadership.
• Strong knowledge of silviculture, forest ecology, conservation principles, and sustainable harvesting.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement long-term and short-term forest management plans with a focus on sustainability.
• Oversee planting, harvesting, thinning, and reforestation activities.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, conservation policies and safety standards.
• Manage budgets, resources, and personnel to meet targets.
• Conduct inventories, pest and disease assessments, and monitor forest health.
