Forestry & Landscape Crew Member - Seasonal
Pay: $16.356 - $20.691 per hour, DOQ
Seasonal/Temporary, Non-Exempt, Not Benefit Eligible

The City of Eagan is looking for enthusiastic people from all backgrounds and levels of experience to join our seasonal Forestry and Landscape Crew!
Dive into a hands-on role where you'll learn to beautify Eagan's 61 parks by planting trees, maintaining landscapes, and managing invasive plants. This is a great opportunity for someone to grow, develop new skills, gain experience operating various equipment, and contribute to a team shaping the city's green spaces! Training, uniforms, tools and equipment provided.
Hours of Work
Typical shifts are Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week, 7:00am - 3:00pm
3 - 4-month positions available from August - November
Essential Position Functions
In this job you will:
- Learn to perform various landscaping and maintenance activities at Eagan's 61 Parks, including:
- Planting of trees, shrubs, perennials, and native grasses
- Landscape bed and garden maintenance
- Irrigation and fertilization
- Mulching
- Invasive plant management
- Weed identification and control
- Learn how to use landscape power equipment (roto-tiller, sod cutter, edger, hedge trimmer, etc.)
- Assist the City tree crew in the cleanup of diseased and hazardous trees, tree trimming, pruning, and brush removal
- Work alone and as part of a team
- Follow work direction and keep supervisor informed of any concerns
- Maintain tools and equipment used on the job
- Miscellaneous tasks related to City forestry and park operations; other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications

- Ability to lift and/or move up to 70 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, kneel, crouch, twist, and turn and use of fine motor skills and manual dexterity
- Ability to work in all weather conditions experience throughout the summer months
- Must be able to communicate effectively with the public and co-workers

Employees are required to work outdoors on uneven ground, while carrying heavy loads or performing maintenance tasks, in all weather conditions experienced in Eagan during the months of April through November. Weather conditions encountered may include heat, cold, rain, snow, sleet, wind, etc.
