Role Purpose/Business Unit:

The role is within corporate security operations, focusing on analyzing cases highlighted by the fraud control system or other data points to prevent or stop fraud, thereby protecting Vodacom SA from financial loss or reputational damage. The role requires willingness to work standby shifts, including nights. It involves good persuasive skills to gather feedback on escalated cases, desktop analysis, reading call records, and establishing interlinkages.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the system effectively to minimize flaws and irregularities.
  • Following procedures to prevent and detect potential economic losses.
  • Analyzing data to identify fraud and recommending preventative measures, including opening fraud dockets when necessary.
  • Maintaining relationships with internal and external sources to share fraud intelligence.
  • Reacting proactively to internal and external stakeholders.

Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:

  • Knowledge of online shops and fraud management.
  • Professional ethics and awareness of legislation.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Assertiveness, confidentiality, integrity, and teamwork with the ability to work independently.
  • Analytical, investigative, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Writing and reporting skills.

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • Matric or NQF4 qualification (essential).
  • A graduate qualification in a technology stream (desired).
  • 2–4 years of experience in the telecom industry, with experience working on fraud management systems and good knowledge of billing systems (desired).
