Job summary

RPO Recruitment's client, a well-established civil engineering contractor in South Africa, seeks an experienced Foreman with water infrastructure expertise to join their Gauteng team. You will supervise on-site activities, manage labour, subcontractors, plant and materials, ensure progress to programme, enforce quality and safety, and coordinate with engineers and contracts managers.

Candidates should hold a National Diploma in Civil Engineering and have 10–15 years' foreman experience on large

Qualifications

• National Diploma in Civil Engineering or similar qualification.
• 10–15 years' foreman experience in civil construction.
• Experience on water retaining structures such as water treatment plants, reservoirs, water towers.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily construction activities on site.
• Manage site labour, subcontractors, plant and materials to ensure efficient project execution.
• Monitor construction progress and ensure adherence to project programmes and milestones.
• Ensure all works are completed in accordance with project drawings, specifications and quality standards.
• Enforce and maintain health and safety compliance on site.
• Coordinate with Site Agents, Engineers and Contracts Managers regarding project progress and resource requirements.
• Oversee reinforced concrete works, including formwork, reinforcement, and concrete placement.
• Ensure productivity targets are achieved while maintaining high-quality workmanship.

• Ensure all works are completed in accordance with project specifications, drawings, and quality standards.

Requirements:

• National Diploma in Civil Engineering or similar qualification
• 10-15 years of solid experience as a Foreman within the civil construction industry.
• Proven experience working on water retaining structures, including water treatment plants, reservoirs, and water towers
• Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete construction methods and quality control requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Proven experience managing labour teams and subcontractors on large civil projects.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
